Hey Doyle here. I just wanted to pop on here, live for a few minutes on this Saturday evening and share a couple of thoughts with you that have been rambling around in this old brain of mine today.
This morning, as I was filling out my morning journal, doing my daily morning routine and reflecting on life, I came across this quote by Anne Frank that I wanted to share. She said, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” ~ Anne Frank
I have been thinking off and on all day about how is it that we human beings, in the face of so many things that can that to go wrong in our world…
As you know, part of our world is embroiled in another war, and we still have things like people going to bed hungry at night and people living on the streets in poverty, people without proper medical and mental health care and on and on the list seems to go.
But at the same time, we have so much resilience and creativity and compassion and empathy and care inside of us.
So, I just want to ask you today to pause for a few minutes in your day, or in your evening, wherever you are in the world and just ask, how can you improve your world? What I mean by that is the world inside of you. What’s something you can do to care for yourself today, or this evening?
Maybe take a walk, or if you have the means, get a good meal in your belly. Or pick up the phone and instead of texting or IM-ing, actually call somebody. Call a friend. Call a family member you haven’t spoken with for a while and just let them know, “Hey, I care about you. You matter to me.”
And again, back to self care, you know, you can do things as simple as just ask yourself, have you had enough water today? It might seem like a silly thing, but you know, that’s one small way that you can improve your world and take care of yourself.
And then again, turning your attention outward. Who’s somebody who you deeply love that could use some care, some attention, some friendly conversation today or tomorrow?
Then expanding out beyond that, you know, where can you put some of your resources to help make the life of a unhoused person better, or maybe extend some help to those in need of mental health resources, or whatever the need might be.
And of course, then on out to broader and broader circles as you consider your means, your available resources to contribute.
Well, thank you for spending a few moments with me, letting me share some of these thoughts with you. I really appreciate you giving your attention to me and sitting down and taking these thoughts to heart and acting upon them.
So, let’s not wait another minute to improve the world. Let’s do something right now, whatever it might be to, as Marshall Rosenberg, put it, “…make life more wonderful for ourselves and for others.”
All right. I send you my love and I send you wishes for peace and joy.
Thanks so much for all of your kindness and support toward me.
I’ll see you again soon in another video.
I wish you
and your loved ones
Peace & Joy always,
in all ways.
